What if I don’t want you to combine my entry with someone else’s? What if I intentionally worded mine differently?
They could be linked, as similar ideas? I think you’re on the right path, but I don’t support your suggestion as articulated. Perhaps I will word it differently and then we can combine my suggestion with yours…
It could also show similarly worded shoulds and shouldees on the sidebar, as in “similar suggestions…” Combining needs to be done much more carefully.
And also, allow/automate combining of similar “someones” (shouldees?). Clearly, there are many things President Bush should do, but it doesn’t help to have separate entries for “President Bush” and “George W. Bush.”
I agree that combining things can be a slippery slope, but it’s a lot easier to see what kind of popularity an idea has if I don’t have to hunt down every different wording. I don’t know how this would be done, but it would be handy.
I’d like to see the same solution that’s on 43 Things … where we suggest similarly named goals and you’re allowed to defect if you’d like. Combining actual goals is a slippery slope.
For example, Should Do This should:
“let me comment on an entry even if the original poster hasn’t written an entry yet”
AND
“let us discuss every suggestion”
These are apparently the same goal. Perhaps we can combine them like we can combine similar places on 43 Places.
3 people think this should not be done.
